Trip to NYC

Today we took a trip to NYC, specifically to the museum of Natural history and while there to Central Park. We have been in NY for almost 2 years so we figured we should try to see some of the major sites. We left in the morning and drove to Queens were we were able to park on the street and then we rode the subway into the city. Driving a big vehicle as our truck would have been more difficult in the city and the garage cost is higher for larger vehicles. Taking the subway although a little more challenging with children is cheap and in many ways easier to get to places in the city. We go the museum and paid a donation to get in. Apparently people can pay $0 - to a suggested price or around $25. I think we paid $4 per person. The museum is quite large and although I thought the kids would look at each display, there more eager to run through than look around. We got to see some of the dinosaurs bones which I think the kids enjoyed the most.

I think the T-rex was my favorite display.

After seeing the museum we thought we could go to Central Park which is basically across the street and simply enjoy the park. We had just arrived to the park when Malachi, asked he needed to go the bathroom. So I told him I would look for a place and we would go in a few minutes. He said ok and went on to playing at the playground. Not more than 3-5 minutes later, he came back to where Tammy and I were sitting to inform us that he had just pooped his pants. Malachi had been potty trained for QUITE sometime so this was a total surprise. We did not bring an extra change of clothes, or way to clean him. Sure, we had diapers for Maya but not for him. LOL. So there we were, in the middle of Central Park with Malachi having poop on his pants, no change of clothes, no care, no wipes. So we found some paper and placed on the stroller, I carried Maya and Malachi rode on the stroller as to try to contained the mess. We walk and walk and walk and walk some more trying to find a store where we could buy some 4 year-old toddler pants so we could change him. We finally found a store and had to change him and clean him in the bathroom, he had to go commando as there was no way we were going to go all around trying to find 4yo underwear. We finally made it back to the park where we hiked and played for a little while. Needless to say, we were kind of tired after walking what had to have been 2-3 miles trying to find a store to buy Malachi pants. I guess, I should have guessed that in the upper west side there are no clothing stores easily accessible.

Here is a picture of Maya and Tammy in Central Park, overseeing one of the most expensive street of high raisers.
